Burglary Alert

Alert message sent 06/05/2012 10:27:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police
Between Wednesday 2nd May & Saturday 5th May 2012 a house on Whitburn Road, Toton has been broken into.

Basically, the occupant was away from the address during these times and it appears that the offender has used a tool from an insecure outhouse to smash a hole in a rear window to the house.  The offender has then got hold of the window key and unlocked the window which is how entry has been gained.

Please ensure that you do the following:

1.  Ensure that sheds, garages, outbuildings or anywhere where tools and ladders are kept are locked and are secure.
2.  If you have windows which have window locks then ensure that they are closed and locked especially when you are away.  Please put the key in a safe and secure location and not on the window ledge.
3.  If you are going away then please make your house look like someone is still there.  Invest in some internal timers for example.
4.  If you have a house alarm then please set it.  If you do not have an alarm then please consider installing one.

Further more specific crime prevention advice is available on the Nottinghamshire Police Website.  The Local Beat Team are available to assist with crime prevention matters.

In relation to the burglary, if anyone has any information then contact the Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

Thankyou
