Theft of Catalytic Converters

Alert message sent 06/05/2012 09:23:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police
Good Morning,

Five catalytic converters were removed from vehicles on Thursday.  Owners returned to vehicles at the Sherwood Visitor Centre and Forest Corner at Edwinstowe, Dukeries Leisure Centre and Tesco's car park at Ollerton and the White Post Farm Centre at Farnsfield to find that the catalytic converter which forms part of the exhaust had been removed from the vehicle.  The exhaust pipes had been sawn through leaving the vehicles undriveable and owners had to get them recovered.

These catalytic converters have a high scrap value due to the metals contained within.  Please be extra vigilant in car parks as the offenders have carried out these thefts in broad daylight.  The offenders may look like a normal member of the public changing a wheel as normally the car will be jacked up to get access to the exhuast system.

If you see anything suspicious please do not not hesistate to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 999.

Many thanks

Keith Crowhurst
