A 36-year-old Mansfield man has been charged with Class B drug offences following a police raid on a house in Forest Town.
Daniel Speed, of Admiral’s Court, was charged with the possession with intent to supply amphetamines.
He was charged with a further five offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA).
Speed’s 27-year-old wife Abigail Speed, of the same address, was also charged with five offences under POCA.
The charges follow a warrant at an address in Garwick Close on 13 October 2011. Police seized a quantity of amphetamines and drugs paraphernalia, as well as cash and items believed to have been purchased from the proceeds of crime.
The pair have been bailed until their appearance at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Friday 11 May 2012.
Inspector Mark Webster the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Mansfield North Neighbourhood Policing Area said
“I am very pleased to see that charges have been brought in relation to this matter. People who are prepared to deal in illegal substances should take note that we will not only look to arrest and prosecute them for dealing drugs but that we will also look to seize their assets as well to ensure that their crimes do not pay.
I hope that this news re-assures the decent members of our Community that we will seek to prosecute drug dealers at every opportunity that we have”
