CRIME ALERT
DISTRACTION BURGLARY
On 25/04/2012 police were called to a burglary in Cossall.
An elderly couple were tricked by two white males, one of them got in to the house.
They originally knocked on the victims door, and asked if they could look for their lost ball in the back garden.
Whilst one of the males was in the rear garden with the resident, the other crept in to the house and attempted to steal items.
If you have elderly relatives please ensure you warn them about speaking to strangers at the door.

Follow the ‘Lock, Stop, Chain and Check' procedure:
· Lock – Keep your front and back doors locked, even when at home
· Stop – Are you expecting anyone?
· Chain – If you decide to open the door, put the door chain on first
Check – Ask for the caller's ID and check it by phone
