Attempted Burglary In Edwinstowe

This email is to inform you that there has been an attempted burglary in Edwinstowe. It happened at approximately 0200hours on 14/03/2012 around the Greendale Avenue area. Three males were seen all wearing dark hooded tops walking towards Clumber Avenue away from the attacked property. If you saw anything that could help with enquiries please contact The Police on 101.

Whilst burglaries are not common to help prevent further offences please can you review your security arrangements to ensure that you are making it as difficult as possible for would be burglars.

Please be extra vigilant when securing your homes, sheds, outbuildings and vehicles in this area.

When you go out make sure windows are closed and locked, doors are locked and with the dark nights a timer for your lights would be ideal. An outside light on a sensor will light up property outside. If you have a burglar alarm make sure it is in working order and set correctly when you go out.

To reduce YOUR chances of becoming a victim ensure that you keep items of value such as car keys away from doors and windows so they cannot be seen. To highlight this there have been several incidents throughout Nottinghamshire where houses have been broken into for the purpose of taking vehicle keys to in turn take the vehicle.

If available please consider using your garage and hiding your keys in a secure place. Make sure when you are at home the safety chain is always on so an intruder will not be able to get through the door.

If items are in vehicles, lock your car and if possible use your alarm, and remove all items of value, especially items such as sat navs, mobile phones, loose change and bags. If this cannot be avoided and items have to be left in your vehicles make sure they are locked away out of sight.
