Securing Charity Boxes

Alert message sent 14/10/2011 11:55:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police (Business watch)
With annual charity appeals such as the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal being launched in late October we would like to take this opportunity to appeal to businesses collecting donations for charity. Please ensure that charity boxes are secured to prevent unauthorised persons removing them.

There are simple steps that can be taken to secure charity boxes from being taken. Preferably use items such as chains and locks to secure charity boxes to counters and other public areas. Alternatively ensure that the rope handles on the charity box are securely fastened around a fixed object to prevent the boxes being removed by unauthorised persons.

Where possible ensure that charity boxes are removed from premises when closed, or securely stored, out of sight when premises are unoccupied.

Please pass this information onto neighbouring business premises that are not signed up to the alert system. You can use the forward facility on the bottom of alerts to forward to email recipients.
