Police relay crime reduction messages

Alert message sent 29/06/2012 10:43:00
Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Neighbourhood Watch

With just three days to go until the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, there is a mood of celebration building.

If you are planning to watch the Torch Relay come through Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, please take a moment to think about security.

Make sure doors and windows are securely locked before you leave the house.

If you are travelling by car to watch the relay, please ensure you are fully aware of the travel and parking restrictions in place along the route. Leaflets for July 2 and July 3 have been produced which have more detailed information in relation to the route. Remove expensive items, such as satellite navigation systems, if you are leaving your car parked for any length of time.

Whenever you are among a large gathering of people, it is advisable for wallets, purses and mobile phones to be kept secure inside a bag with a zip or an inside pocket.

If you see any suspicious activity or unattended objects, please call 999 or alert one of the police officers who will be stationed along the route.

You can also contact Leicestershire Police by telephoning the 101 number for non-urgent issues.
