Basford Ward Update – May 2012
Morning
During April the Basford Ward comprising of Park Lane, Stockhill and Whitemoor saw overall crime decrease by over 20% during the month compared to the same period last year.
There were only 2 House Burglaries during April, which is a significant decrease for the area, this is over an 80% reduction compared to the same period last year.
There were only 3 robberies reported during April. Can I remind people to keep mobile phones and small items of value kept in pockets as these can often increase the chances of an opportunist committing this type of crime.
Vehicle Crime, including Theft of Motor Vehicles and/or Theft from Motor Vehicles saw a total of 9 offences, compared to a monthly average of 10 or 11 offences. This is the first time in 6 months we have recorded single figures of vehicle crime offences.
Overall crime for the month of April saw a decrease of 27 offences compared to the same period last year. A decrease of over 20%. This was very good news and we aim to builds upon the reductions we made during March.
During April, as I am sure you are aware, there has been publicity around firearms incidents in the City area of Nottingham. Investigations are ongoing, several arrests have been made and a male has been charged with murder. If you are registered on Neighbourhood Alert you will have received regular police updates on the investigations. Your local Neighbourhood Police Teams have been completing hi viz re assurance patrols in the area.
During May we will have the quarterly Basford Community Forum meeting at Southwark Primary School on Wednesday 9th May starting at 6.30pm. At the Forum we will be providing you with an update in relation to the community priority, so we would like to see you present to obtain your feedback
Finally, any suspicious behaviour can be reported using the non-emergency contact number – 101, or to make contact with your local Safer Neighbourhood Team you can visit the website www.nottinghamshire.police.uk and put your postcode in half way down the home page.
Thank you
