It would seem that what ever we try and do to combat the bike thefts the thief’s are still stealing them and it appears that most areas are suffering.
The types of bikes that are being targeted seem to be the new and expensive type which they can easily sell on.
The problem we have when trying to identify a stolen bike is that the owner doesn’t have the serial / frame number which makes it difficult to return the bike if found to an owner as some bikes have had their appearance altered. ie. Wheels have been changed, handle bars changed.
If you are thinking of buying a new bike please make a note of the serial number / frame number also it would help us if you took a digital picture of the bike and keep it in a safe place.
If anyone has any information with regards to the stolen bikes then you can ring
Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111 anonymously
Or call 101 to report an incident
999 for an emergency
You access the NPT numbers from the Nottinghamshire website.
