PREVENT OPPORTUNISTIC BURGLARIES

Alert message sent 20/03/2012 13:57:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police

Dear Residents,

PREVENT OPPORTUNITY BURGLARIES WITH THE ADVENT OF WARM WEATHER

Now the warm weather and nice days are approaching, it is nice to leave your doors and windows open.  However please bear in mind when you leave a room with open doors or windows you remember to shut and lock them.

Also be aware of where you leave personal items when your doors and windows are open, such as mobile phones, car keys or I Pads left on the window sill or a handbag or laptop left on the kitchen table. Ensure these items are put away in your home securely and out of view, this simple action could prevent an opportunistic burglar walking into your home stealing your items.

There has been 3 recent burglaries in the Basford area where this type of incident has occurred, home owners have left the back door open whilst mopping the floor and left the room for the floor to dry or nipped upstairs for only a moment to come back to find motorcycle keys stolen along with the motorbike.

Any suspicious behaviour can be reported using the non-emergency contact number – 101, or to make contact with your local Safer Neighbourhood Team you can visit the website www.nottinghamshire.police.uk and put your postcode in half way down the home page.

From your Safer Neighbourhood Team.
